The purpose of the Youth Department is to teach the youth about Jesus Christ who died for our sins, thereby providing a sound biblical foundation fulfilling the scriptural command in Proverb 22:6.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
The Youth Leaders work together with Pastor Black to ensure the youth are maturing in the Word so whenever testing times come, they will be equipped with the necessary tools to sustain a living a life of holiness and depart from evil.
Mrs. Evelyn Keel, the Youth Department Leader takes pride in working with the youth at St. John. As a retired educator she is no stranger to children, and she has a nurturing spirit, but does not hesitate to correct the youth when they are wrong.
